From Burnout to Balance: Why I Built a Business Around Pressing Pause

You can look like you’ve got it all together – and still feel like you’re quietly falling apart.

For years, I was known for being calm, balanced, and unruffled. The woman who got things done. The safe pair of hands. The one who managed a demanding career, raised two wonderful boys, and held it all together with grace.

On the surface, everything looked fine. On the inside? I was slowly unravelling…

The panic attacks were the first sign. Then the overwhelm. Then the moments of hesitation so strong I couldn’t leave the house—or decide what to have for dinner. I wasn’t just exhausted. I was disconnected from myself.

That’s what burnout often looks like in real life: small withdrawals from who we used to be, until one day we no longer recognise the version of ourselves we’re living with.

The “What Now?” Moment

My tipping point arrived during the pandemic—alongside hormonal chaos and the heartbreak of an empty nest. I call it my precipice burnout era. It felt brutal and beautiful in equal measure.

Because it made me stop.

And in that pause, something shifted.

My curious brain (it’s always asking, “but why?”) kicked in. I reflected. Re-evaluated. Returned to my roots in wellbeing, education, and coaching. And I decided I didn’t want to go back to how things were.

What Happened Next

Armed with everything I already knew—and fuelled by a need to know more—I started to rebuild.

I studied mindfulness, cognitive behavioural approaches, nutrition, journaling, style coaching and emotional wellbeing. But most importantly, I began applying those tools to myself first. The result was life changing.

I realised we don’t need a total reinvention. We need a reconnection.
A pause.
A plan.
A hand to hold while we sort through the “what now” questions.

So I Built Something New

Today, I run a business designed for people who are done with burnout culture—but not sure where to begin.

My work blends intentional coaching and curated travel experiences, because sometimes the best way to reset isn’t just in your head, it’s somewhere new, where your nervous system can exhale.

Whether you work with me in a 1:1 coaching session, a programme like Micro Moments, or book a soul-nourishing escape you didn’t have to organise yourself, I’ll meet you wherever you are.

It’s Not Just About Me

Your values—what truly matters to you, are the compass that will guide you out of the fog.

If you haven’t already, I encourage you to read my Values & Beliefs blog.

It’s one of the first things I explore with clients. Because when your life doesn’t reflect your values, or your beliefs are quietly working against you, it’s no wonder you feel stuck.

What Now?

If something in you is whispering that it’s time to reset- please listen. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to start where you are.

That’s what I did. And it’s why I built my business. To help others do the same.

Because pressing pause isn’t quitting. It’s how we come back stronger, softer, clearer… and more ourselves than we’ve ever been.
